The Dos And Don’ts Before And After Plastic Surgery

The DOs And DON’Ts Before And After Plastic Surgery

A great many people have gone through plastic surgery, from celebrities to our own friends and family, and with such popularity we have a range of great examples of what you should and shouldn’t do before and after going under the knife.

While some of us may have a few ideas about what can and can’t be done around normal surgery, it’s important to note the differences between each particular body enhancement. This will only be a basic guide to the most common forms of cosmetic surgery, and if you’re going for something specific then I highly recommend doing good research in that area, and always consult professionals.

Let’s Consider This List From Head To Toe:

Botox

Probably the most well known form of cosmetic surgery, and not requiring actually going under any knives for typical adjustments, the use of botulinum toxin has been mainly used in the face to enhance our lips, cheeks, and eyebrows.

First and foremost with botox, and this can be applied to any form of cosmetic or even general surgery, never go for the black market or street options. The injection of botox should always be done in a controlled environment with medical professionals who are able to administer and advise confidently, with all necessary tools available if something goes wrong. The financial, physical, and emotional cost of having a botched injection removal is something that you’ll never want to deal with, so avoid it in the first place by going legit.

The other imperative aspect of a healthy botox procedure and recovery is to follow all of your practitioners advice, they should be experienced and open about the common side effects and what you can do to avoid them.

Rhinoplasty And Earlobe Repair

These are also quite common in women who choose to go under the knife, with the nose being the centerpiece of the face, and the earlobes being torn or damaged quite commonly through earrings being ripped out.

As with any surgery, take all advice given to you onboard before going through a nose job, things like smoking or vaping should be completely avoided within the days before and after. Perhaps the most important thing to remember after the surgery is not to bump your nose, it will be fragile for some time afterwards, so avoid any activity (especially sports) in which something may come in contact with your nose.

Similar to rhinoplasty, an earlobe repair op should be followed by being careful with that ear, making sure that you’re not at risk of any kind of impact which could aggravate or affect the healing process. It’s also important to note that the ear should be kept as dry as possible for the first 48 hours, after which some general wound care will suffice.

Mammoplasty

Whether you’re going for a boob job, breast reduction or a breast lift, the advice for post surgery will remain generally the same due to the incisions and manipulation of skin and fat.

Any kind of surgery requires downtime especially on the areas which have been worked on, this is especially important with any kind of mammoplasty. Once you feel well enough to move it’s encouraged that you should do some light walking, but it’s best to wait between 4 to 6 weeks after the surgery before you do any vigorous exercise or activities. The best rule of thumb for this is if it feels at all uncomfortable or painful around the incised areas, then it’s too soon!

Staying in contact with your doctor or surgeon and being completely open about any concerns and complications you may be experiencing is also important. Remember that it can take several months for swelling to reduce back to normal, so give yourself time to recover, too.

Abdominoplasty

Considered the most common cosmetic surgery among Americans, a tummy tuck should not be taken lightly and to ensure a full recovery there are a few important things to remember.

Similar to any kind of mammoplasty, you will require some downtime from any high-intensity activities, although some light exercise can help facilitate the healing process. Any kind of exercise that works the core muscles should be avoided for several weeks.

Follow the dieting advice given to you by the doctor both before and after the surgery, it’s not uncommon to be asked to take a laxative beforehand and with a little consideration it’s easy to understand why. Because this surgery is affecting your gut then following this dieting advice can help maintain its effectiveness and ensure a comfortable recovery.

Labiaplasty

Vaginal rejuvenation post child birth is a wonderful thing for any woman who has been through one or more pregnancy, it can revitalize the youthful passion that may have been damaged through giving birth.

Like mammoplasty and abdominoplasty exercise should be limited to light walking for the following weeks after surgery, with strenuous activities out of the question until a full recovery. This also applies to sex for those who have gone through a labiaplasty, although it may be incredibly exciting to “try it out” so to speak, it’s important to make a full recovery so as to not damage the work that has been done and potentially cause an infection.

General

There are a few things that can apply to all forms of cosmetic surgeries and I will outline them here:

Don’t smoke before or after any operations, and try to avoid smoking during your recovery period. It’s been proven that smoking can slow down healing, and this itself can lead to a range of serious complications including infection.

Don’t drink heavily during your recovery period either, not only does alcohol also slow down healing, but lowered inhibitions may allow you to believe you can strain your body more than you should.

Follow every piece of advice all medical professionals involved have given you, no matter how much you feel like you know your own body, these people have studied and know what is going to be best for you. It’s also good to request any advice given to be sent through in an email or given to you on paper, not only as a reference if you tend to forget things, but also for some accountability on their part.
